Kaufman Rossin Independently Validates Bretton AI’s KYC, AML and Sanctions Agents

Bretton AI, which provides AI-native operations for financial institutions’ back-office workflows, today announced that its know your customer (KYC), anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions AI agents have completed an independent model validation by Kaufman Rossin, one of the nation’s largest accounting and advisory firms.

The review examined the governance, processing, outputs and conceptual soundness of Bretton’s AI platform as it relates to these agents, including model accuracy and stability, explainability and decision traceability, change management, ongoing monitoring and model risk governance. Kaufman Rossin also assessed Bretton’s approach against relevant industry practices and regulatory guidance.

“The combination of LLM-based investigative reasoning with deterministic rule-based logic, structured output schemas, and mandatory human-in-the-loop review prior to final disposition reflects an approach that balances the analytical capabilities of large language models with the transparency and control requirements of a regulated compliance environment,” said Jason Chorlins, Principal at Kaufman Rossin. “Independent model validation provides an important assessment of the controls and processes supporting their use in regulated environments.”

Building Continuous Evaluation Into AI Operations

Bretton’s approach to model validation extends beyond independent third-party review. Its Trust Infrastructure combines model risk management, policy controls, decision traceability and continuous evaluation to support AI agents performing regulated financial work.

Rather than relying solely on general-purpose model benchmarks, Bretton develops evaluations around the specific jobs its agents perform and the policies of the institutions deploying them. These evaluations assess whether agents execute tasks correctly and consistently, while feedback from previous investigations informs improvements over time. As underlying AI models evolve, this framework helps Bretton assess new capabilities against the requirements of each institution’s workflows.

“The bar for AI inside a bank is very different from the bar for a general-purpose AI tool,” said Will Lawrence, CEO and co-founder of Bretton AI. “When an agent is investigating financial crime or reviewing a customer for onboarding, getting the right answer is only part of the job. You need to know that it followed the bank’s policies, understand how it reached its decision and be able to evaluate its performance over time. We’ve built that testing and oversight into how our agents operate, and independent validation adds another layer of scrutiny beyond our own evaluations. Banks need both if they’re going to trust AI with increasingly complex work.”
