Villa Leonidas Opens 2026 Reservations in Kardamyli, Greece’s Outer Mani

Booking 2026 in Kardamyli: Villa Leonidas Opens Reservations on Greece’s Outer Mani Coast

Ditiki mani, Greece – May 17, 2026 / Villa Leonidas /

Villa Leonidas, a family-owned stone villa estate in Kardamyli on Greece’s Outer Mani, has opened reservations for the 2026 season. The property is operated by owners Leo and Cindy, who travelled through 68 countries before settling on the Mani Peninsula. Property manager Michael personally welcomes every arrival in Kardamyli, walks guests through check-in, is reachable by phone during the stay, and returns to handle check-out. The property hosts five languages: English, Greek, German, Italian, and Russian.

The Region

Kardamyli is a year-round village of roughly 300 permanent residents on the western edge of the Mani Peninsula in the southern Peloponnese. It is approximately a 50-minute drive from Kalamata International Airport and a three-and-a-half-hour drive from Athens. The village is named in Homer’s Iliad, Book 9, as one of seven cities Agamemnon offered Achilles. In the 1960s, the British travel writer Sir Patrick Leigh Fermor, author of “Mani: Travels in the Southern Peloponnese” (1958), built a stone house at Kalamitsi just south of the village and lived there for the rest of his life. That house is now held by the Benaki Museum (Athens) and reopened to the public in October 2019.

The surrounding region is known for its Ottoman-era stone tower houses (most surviving examples built between 1770 and 1850), Byzantine and post-Byzantine chapels, and a coastline backed by the Taygetos mountain range, whose highest peak, Profitis Ilias, rises to about 2,407 metres directly behind the village. Beaches accessible from the village include Foneas (about 4 km south), Kalogria, and Stoupa (about 7 km south). Day trips within driving range include ancient Messene, the harbour town of Gythio, the medieval city of Mystras (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), the Diros Caves, and Areopoli, the Mani capital where the Greek War of Independence formally began on 17 March 1821.

Most guests rent a car at Kalamata Airport on arrival. The area’s narrow coastal roads have no sidewalks, so the property is a drive-to base.

The Property

The estate offers three rental options:

  • The main villa. Three bedrooms across two and a half bathrooms, sleeps six. Fully equipped kitchen with family dining area. Private saltwater pool. Outdoor stone grill area. Hilltop terrace with views across the Gulf of Messenia.
  • The Entire Estate. The main villa combined with a separate two-bedroom guest house on the property, raising total occupancy to ten across five bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. Exclusive use of the gardens, pool, and grill area.
  • Achilles Cottage. A standalone two-bedroom stone cottage with one bathroom, single ground-floor level, sleeps four. New for the 2026 season. Operates as a fully separate rental. No pool access.

The main villa and the Entire Estate include central heating and high-speed internet for year-round stays. Housekeeping every three to four days is included in the standard rate.

Recent Guest Feedback

The property carries a 5.0 rating on Google across 17 verified reviews and an 8.7 score on Booking.com. Recent verbatim feedback from 2024 and 2025 stays:
