Denton County MHMR Center Provides Notification of Data Security Incident

Denton, TX – Denton County MHMR Center, My Health My Resources (“the Center”) announces a data security incident that may have impacted certain protected health information stored on its network.
On or around December 24, 2024, the Center experienced a network intrusion that impacted certain systems. Upon discovery of the intrusion, the Center immediately took steps to secure its network and engaged third-party specialists to assist with determining the full nature and scope of the event. A thorough investigation determined that a limited amount of information may have been accessed by an unauthorized actor. The Center then conducted a comprehensive review of the data in order to determine the types of information contained within the impacted dataset and to whom that information related.
The types of information contained within the potentially affected dataset include patient names, addresses, patients’ identification numbers, dates of birth, diagnosis, medical history information, medical record numbers, medical treatment information, lab information, treating doctor’s name, medication information, vaccination information, medical insurance information, and biometric identifiers.
At this time, the Center is not aware of any evidence to suggest that any information has been misused. Nonetheless, to be diligent, the Center provided notice to potentially affected individuals out of an abundance of caution. The Center is also offering complimentary credit monitoring services to potentially impacted individuals. In response to this incident, the Center has worked with third-party specialists to investigate and implement additional security measures within its network. Although the Center has no evidence of actual or attempted misuse of information as a result of this incident, individuals are nonetheless encouraged to monitor their account statements and explanation of benefits forms for suspicious activity and to detect errors.
The Center has established a toll-free call center to answer questions about the incident and to address related concerns. The number for the hotline is 1-833-307-7822. The hotline hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 8 PM EST, excluding holidays. In addition, the Center has notified the U.S. Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights and any applicable state regulators of this incident.
The privacy and protection of information is a top priority for the Center, and the Center deeply regrets any inconvenience or concern this incident may cause.
